Camelot

So Yama and I decided to play some minecraft again (he started first ;p) and we joined a server owned by some of our online friends. This server is vanilla with towny mod on it, which is a mod that brings diplomacy and economy to the game. You can create your own town, expand it, invite others to join it and create a little community.

We decided to start our own town rather than join another and we wanted a medieval themed town so we named it Camelot! Here's what we've built so far:

I don't use any special texture packs other than an HD res pack, I'm sure it would do them more justice with a texture pack.

What's a medieval town without religion? Here's our Basilica from the outside.

And finally what Yama and I log off to every night - the town square. Complete with an Inn for travelers, a market, a fountain, some of our resident's houses, and the town hall. The farm is in the background.

Some MRB members have joined us: Kirkendall, Mottola, and Willow. I figured I would share these pics with minecrafters who can appreciate the amount of work that goes into building projects like these. Oh I forgot, we currently have 7 residents in Camelot but the server is in beta so I expect we will expand exponentially when the server goes public.

Wow this is great! I enjoy building in vanilla with friends but this is amazing for the two of you! If theres any room/when the server goes public, i would love to join you guys and have some fun. Great job!

I want to get back into Minecraft now that my computer can handle it without needing every texture to resemble square pink donuts.

UPDATE: We added some new buildings and some new residents

Our brand new stable so everyone in Camelot has a home for their horses

Here is the upstairs to the stable

We built a pond and called it Arthur's Pond and added a medieval looking bridge

Here is the town watermill because why not?

Some new great additions to Camelot include Mottola, Barry, Visca, and Holland. This is the street where they live

Hmm .. If I install it again I could probably join as a humble miner. Just go out and grab resources for everyone and dump them into a chest or something.

Create a huge quarry then mine in certain locations in it to create a cool aesthetic and medieval theme.

We'd like to do outposts for Camelot, but they're damned expensive! You can still mine outside of the Town, but you won't have block protection and PvP is enabled in unclaimed wilderness.

Anyone can bring you to our town but only Yama or Parker can add you as a resident and set you up with your own plot of land.

I'm actually a littlebit pissed atm, wasn't aware of the fact that i also had to buy all the stuff below that i'm working on. So all efforts yet made for nothing. Can i repurchase it somehow and if yes, how?

I guess I should have warned you about building on/under Wilderness. If any of that goes on sale, you lose the permissions to build there. You own the 16x16x256 plot (as high and as low as you can go). Outside that is free game.

I cannot see underground, so if you're expanding outside your plot without letting someone know, I might unknowingly sell that land to new residents. I don't want to just boot someone off the land, so if the new guy is willing to sell his land to you, you can reclaim that work you've done under him.

Had I known how popular the our little Town would get, I would have tried to plan out the residential area so everyone could have more land if they need it. Quite a few of of the plots are surrounded by others now.

That would be great when you have the chance Sir. The Farm and Town Hall areas of town seem to have a restriction so we cant pick stuff up or kill animals.

OTHER NOTES

I keep joining the server and finding that someone is taking certain things in large unnecessary quantities from the farm.

I'm on right now and there is no more wheat or sugar cane in the farm storage and we had stacks and stacks of it.

We are getting kind of sloppy and not replacing things when we can.

Also, my horse seems to have disappeared from the stable. I dont know if someone stole it or it just magically disappeared.

I noticed the wheat was gone yesterday and this morning the sugar cane had disappeared as well. But Barry, your horse has been missing for about a week so i'm thinking someone stole it. Which is why i took my saddle and horse armor off of my horse when i'm not riding him. I have an extra saddle i'll give you if you need a new one.
