Sir Christopher Lee, the actor best known recently for his roles as Count Doku in Star Wars and as Sarumon in the Lord of the Rings has passed away today at the prime age of 93. Today I show some respect to this Sci-fi titan of cinema. May he rest in peace.

A legend has joined the stars in the sky. In the days when horror films were not centered around gore but around actual terror and setting, Christopher Lee was surrounded by greats of the day; Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price. The list is as long as the roles he's played. Maybe less since he played so many roles from the immortal Dracula to Sherlock Holmes. From Francisco Scaramanga to Count Dooku and Saruman (he actually met Tolkien once!). His voice, deep and steady, was as memorable as his face making him even harder to forget and influencing greatly the final product of whatever production he was involved with.

Before his acting career, having lost his Army father to pneumonia in 1941, he decided to join the RAF. He was ready to fly his first flight when he was diagnosed with an optic nerve problem. This did not stop the Englishman from serving his country as he continued in the RAF Intelligence office for the remainder of the war mostly in Africa and Italy. Before his service ended he had achieved the rank of Flight Lieutenant while hunting down war criminals for the Central Registry of War Criminals and Security Suspects.

There will never be another like him.

Rest in peace, Mr. Lee.

He is best remembered for the scary roles he has played. The evil characters. he also did Comedy. He even made a couple heavy metal Albums, including Charlemagne: The Omens of Death. he also wrote some books. A truly talented man. I think it was his voice though that made him truly iconic.

      MARINE CORPS ENLISTMENT OFFICE Camp Pendleton, CA   RECRUITMENT LETTER     Hello F. Flobbs   Thank you for taking interest in joining the 1st Marine Raider Battalion. There are a few things you should know before I give you a date for Basic Combat Training (BCT). Firstly, you are restricted to the weapon class of Rifleman for the duration of your time as a Recruit. Secondly, any questions you have about our unit, alternate times for your BCT, or just rules in general, you should contact your drill instructors GySgt. R. Fielding, 1stSgt. J. Candy, CWO. A. Pitteway, and 2ndLt. R. Martinez.    BCT will be Held on a day communicated to you by a member of the Drill Instructor team.   Do not hesitate to reach out to our Drill Instructors for additional information.
