if I go to Michigan and ask for Soda in a store, I get directed to baking Soda. Its called Pop there.

Fountain drinks only refers to the way it was dispensed, which in this case would be from a soda fountain. They are still referred to as pop, soda, coke, or whatever weird nickname you call it.

I grew up in and live in Michigan and I call it Soda.

I used to spend my summers in Michigan when I was a kid. Ithica to be exact. its still a small town . I went into a store there and asked where the soda was. They directed me to the aisle with the baking soda. When I asked for the Coka Cola, they said "Oh, you mean Pop" and directed me to the correct aisle.

i grew up near chicago and we always called it POP but when i moved to the west/ south/ and even in the east all i get is SODA, lol i still say POP it confuses them lol

Canada thing? Quebec thing? I have no idea. I refer to them as soft drinks.
