I have seen this before; usually occurs when there is a game update and the server hasn't received it yet. However I was just able to join the Public server a few minutes ago without issue. If there is an update it should have been applied to the server now. If you are still unable to join I would check Steam to verify the integrity of your game files and make sure auto-updates are on.

I haven't noticed any updates for DoDs or Orangebox, I'll run an update just in case.

I tried restarting Steam, and I also set my updates to Auto-Update on DoD:S and was still unable to connect to the server, and received the same error still.

Try clearing your cache file works for all kind of problems on my end.

Yeah that didn't work either, just tried it and am still getting the same error.

Yes, that is correct. However, now I'm just going to re-install the game, and see if that works, seeing as nothing else has yet.

EDIT: After reinstalling the game, it apparently fixed the problem. Seems to be working, for now anyway
