Well you would be repurchasing dods with the ability to complete multiplayer map editing in real time with your pals on a server. Additionally this will be coming with upgraded physics engines and collision mesh, allowing for things like destructible environs that actually work. Ooh also had we mentioned shotguns? Because this new DoD:S has shotguns.

 

Also entirely new maps as well as recreations of our favorites that are already out. Plus new player base to tap into

That's what I'm looking forward to like only playing with this old WO. Marsden is getting so boring, I want new people that I can rek in a solid WW2 shooter :D

Days of War is similar to DoDS but instead of viewing it as re-purchasing DoDS view it like your purchasing DoDS 2. It's similar to the game you know and love AND in addition to that you'll get new graphics, new weapons, maps, new community support and devs who can support the game with the updates and fixes it needs.

I think when I FIRST saw the game I was excited about it. Because I felt the same way you did. Now I am not so sure. I will have to see what the community thinks about it overall.

I think I felt the same way as you when Source came out, why would I repurchase the source version of all the mods I'm already playing? And with that change over I was literally just buying the new engine with actually fewer mechanics as far as DoD1.6 was concerned. Yet I ended up purchasing it for shits and giggles around '05 just to see what all the rage was, and never loaded 1.6 again.
 Will Days of War deliver in the same manner? I'm not sure, but I'm more than ready over a decade later to try out a new version of this game on an upgraded engine with more mechanics available to me. Sure there will be some bugs to get worked out for early transitions, but over all I think it will be more than worth it for us to be able to say hop into a private server with all of your friends, be like hey let's build up a map that is focused on shock and awe or whatever tactics you want and then build out the map. Wanna practice building clearing? Sure lets throw up a building and have the walls be different every few runs, because we can do that now, so it becomes less memory more skill/implementation of tactics.

 

I don't know, could be that I've run practices and the Assault MOS for too long but I can see the training implementations of the group map making in server as limitless, not to mention all of the gameplay I have seen just feels like DoD:S already just with some tweaks.

Firstly, you are restricted to the weapon class of Rifleman for the duration of your time as a Recruit.
