Yesterday after we finished playing in the pub, I left DoD and tried launching EVE. I got a familiar message... The game is currently unavailable, please try again later. This has been happening to me more and more frequently lately and it pisses me off so i decided to fix it.
I backed up anything important to an external hard drive, wiped my main drive, and did a fresh install of Vista. After installign Vista, I re-installed all my motherboard drivers, downloaded 84 updates from Windows Update, got all the lastest video card drivers, sound card drivers and the works.
Downloaded Steam after I finished all that, re-installed, DoD, EVE, CoH, L4D, Killing Floor.
I click on a game, get the splash screen saying the game is launching from steam, get the splash screen for the game itself, then nothing. Game stops loading, disappears from my task managaer and I'm staring at my desktop. It's not in the taskbar, in the services tab, anywhere. Just stops running. It does this no matter what game I try and launch. Checking to see if it was a steam related problem, I installed a game from CD, played fine. So it's something to do with Steam.
Knowing this, I deleted all local content, deleted Steam, re-downloaded it, re-installed DoD. Something different is happening now. Now when I launch DoD, I see the splash screen for Valve, (the back of the dudes head screen) and the loading music, but the window isn't full screen, only like 600 x 800. It still disappears after that screen is done and doesn't launch but now I have a whole new set of problems. It's doing the same thing for EVE, launching in a windowed type mode.
I updated my DX9 and 10 Files to the latest versions, re-installed my video drivers again, still nothing.
Suspicion active, was sprinting around no scoping everyone prior to demo then just ran around with pistol after I started, seems to be tracing through walls.

Hello Belcher, Hello Cannon,
thanks for your reply and I appreciate the effort. Strangely some weeks ago I could join the server and played on it but some days after access been blocked again, of course not using any vpn or other stuff. Really no idea what really happened.
My steam ID is 76561198037997651
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you looked into it!
Kind regards Chris / Crucco
