DoD:S Hard Crashing on 1st MRB Server

Question

Posted

Hey guys -
I'm a member of SAC (6th RB Pub Clan). I often find on your server I get a hard crash of the game (program totally closes and kicks me to windows). There are things I can rule out as I do have an extensive IT background for troubleshooting: System hardware is WAY above the highest recommended, internet is 1GB down and 90mb up, router and modem have been rebooted for double checking. The issue is sporadic and sometimes happens a few mins into joining or sometimes I can get 15-20 mins before it occurs but it will happen in the time span of one map.

I'm looking to see if there is anything on the client config side/server side we can work through to see if I can stop these random crashes from occurring. Please let me know what I could provide to assist in troubleshooting!

Cheers,

exiLe [SAC]

This is a bug caused by the difference in the bandage.mp3 file found on the sm_realism.smx mod. 6th RB and MRB each use a different bandage.mp3 and it can sometimes cause crashes. The only way to stop it is to delete the file from your downloads folder before connecting to each server. We re-did our sm_realism.smx to remove the call for the bandage.mp3 file.

I'm not the most tech-savvy when it comes to specific coding issues but a quick google search returned this on the dods steam discussions, might help.  https://steamcommunity.com/app/300/discussions/0/1753528119306851221/

Or you can check Windows Event Viewer for the times that you are experiencing the crashes and post what specific errors/log is returning on your computer which could help diagnose if it is a client side error vs a server side error as this is not happening en masse to other players.
