Let me say one thing here:

I saw this movie last night.

Stallone, should stop making attempts to direct movies. If you thought the last Rambo movie was good (which I didn't), the one he directed, it was better than this pile of shit I watched last night.

His idea of action, is switching camera angles 17 times a second. The script was god awful, along with the plot. You can't understand a word anyone is saying half the time, horrible special effects...

I really wanted this to be a good movie, but alas.. It's a B-List movie with an A-List cast.

I did like Rourke in it though, the one highlight of the film.

If you are a fan of poorly done action films, then yes, it was okay.

I'm not however. It was sold on who is in it, not how good it was as a movie. The trailer honestly was the best part of the movie.

See Ford, the issue is, you gotta go into the movie knowing it's going to be terribly bad. But you have to have fun with it.

I don't know, maybe I am not as high brow as some, but I like to go into a movie I know is gonna be bad, and enjoy it for what it is. It's the simple things in life really.

*shrugs*

Just Saying.

I went into the movie expecting a simplistic plot line that was moved forward by explosions. I was not disappointed in the least.

But I also have terrible taste in movies as I'm excited for Machete and enjoyed Predators.

EDIT: Plus its the end of summer all of the simple as shit movies are being released, Just look at Piranhas, it's a movie that should have just stayed on the SyFy channel. But seriously, watch Expendables as you would watch a friend play a game, you're watching explosions and shotgun's turning people into a fine bloody mist.

You guys just cant admit you wasted your money on a shitty movie.

Any of the Bourne movies - Awesome action movies, with a good plot and script.

The Departed - Great Action Movie with a great cast and plot.

Training Day, you starting to see my point?

Don't say action movies aren't supposed to have a plot.. they are and should.

As I said, I really wanted this to be a good movie, it wasn't. It wasn't even close to being a good cheesy movie. All it was, was Stallone trying to make some money and wanting a last shot as the leading man in a movie. He was in all but what? 3 scenes.... He will make money, the budget couldn't have been much over the cost of paying the big named actors for their cameos.

I'm not saying I didn't waste money on the movie's plot, I'm saying I payed to watch some guns shoot and shit explode for an hour and a half.

I mean really the only action movies I expect to have a plot anymore is movies with a director I've never heard of or a director who isn't playing the lead character in the movie. If you went to that movie expecting a driving plot with developing characters you must have not seen the director as being Stallone or the fact that the entire movie was based on a group of mercenaries that wasn't the A-Team.

Also all of the listed movies didn't have nearly as many explosions as this. If they did it would be a catastrophe, just look at Transformers they went with both explosions and tried to put a plot in between and all it did was confuse and anger me.

When I saw the preview for this movie, all I could tell was that it was going to be a movie with lots of explosions. Personally, I was happy enough with the movie after the custom shells in Terry Crew's AA-12 were shot for a little while.

When has Stallone directed any movie that has had a good plot? Not really ever. It's like going to a movie, and expecting it to be good because Oliver Stone directed it. He's never directed any good movie.

I went to this movie the same reason I assume people go to the SAW movies in theaters. There were some cool shiny things that happened on the screen. Or really violent things. I was in no way expecting Stallone, the writer and director, to come out with some deep psychological action flick that resonates with everyone. In my opinion, there was ages too much dialogue. Rourke's scene with him drawing on the guitar and blabbering on about saving the girl to save his soul was probably the most painful monologue I've heard.

Did I get what I expected? Yea. Was Jason Statham the only really good action guy left there? Yea. Did it fit to have Dolph Lundgren be basically retarded? Yea. Was I happy with the plot? No. But it did set them up to fight a private army hosted by a pseudo-communist regime. And that's all I can ask for.

PS Jet Li wasn't bad, but the only scenes they had him doing badass kung-fu shit was against Dolph. Shits weak.

PPS On Oliver Stone, I'll grant him Platoon was good.

I read something about it in ZOO magazine here (i's a mens mag). It said that Stallone couldn't get some actors unless he agreed to stupid terms, Like the weird plots and the crappy effects.

Either way it got a bad rating.

Personally I frikkan LOVE B grade movies, sexploitations and just about anything you can find on a site I belong to that only caters for rare or poorly marked movies.

O'Pray hates them and we don't watch many anymore :P

To be fair, The Departed wasn't really an action movie, but a gritty crime drama. Same with Training Day. The Bourne films are the closest to action movies out of that group.
