Question

Posted

I have made a custom spray in photo shop CS5 to the dimensions of 256x256 and originally save it as a JPEG. I then converted it to a .vtf file cause valve likes that. I then put it in my day of defeat source/dod/materials/vgui/logos folder. I currently have a spray saved in the game, but have deleted the actual file from that same folder. When I try to import the new one, (in game) I select the file and click import, the box disappears and nothing happens. The old spray still remains after I try to import the new one, even after a steam and game restart. I have no clue how to remove the old spray, and I hope it doesnt require re installing the game. HELP PLEASE! Thanks

I would definately hit up someone in the Quartermaster's office. I can kinda sorta google-fu may way through, but I ended up living with this same issue for nearly 2 weeks, and I'm still not sure how I fixed it.

check here first. if you follow the steps here and its not working, try this

Simply download VTF Plugin

Steps installing plugins

1. Close Photoshop.

2. Extract VTFLib.dll to your ..\Photoshop\ folder.

3. Extract VTF.8bi to your ..\Photoshop\Plug-Ins\File Formats\ folder.

4. Run Photoshop

then when you save it, use these settings

Hoorah!

TO PROPERLY SAVE A .VTF SPRAY. USE THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS WHEN PROMPTED ON SAVE:

1. Format DXT5,

2. Mipmap Filter: Point

3. Sharpen Filter: Unsharpen Mask

4. Mipmaps check box unchecked, as well as Thumbnail, and only the Eight Bit Alpha option checked on the bottom.

then follow the instructions on where to put the file. If you complete all these steps and the folder still displays nothing, then you might need to kick a reinstall of dod
