High ping in the Server

I have a fast connection. I get 1.5 MPB/s from steam and 30 ping from the EGO server.

Why am I getting over 150 ping in the pub? Am I stuck trying to learn to play with this high ping?

Also how do I keep it from crashing when the map changes?

I'm having the same issue, during peak usage times. At 5pm, I'll have close to a 200 ping, which is almost unplayable for me. During later night, morning, afternoons, I'll be at 120-140 ms. For me, it was because of the geographic change in server. I'm getting routed through Denver, Kanasas City, Chicago, Batlimore, and NY, and then it makes it to New Jersey.

Does time of day effect you? Oh, I'm also on 14 Mbps Cable. When I was on DSL, it affected me much less.
