I just found out two days ago that a friend of mine has been working on this! So stoked.

As a clarification, it crashed around 10:34, but immediately went back up (we filled it fairly quickly, too!) This crash was right before I joined the server, so I can't give any details on what was happening when it went down.

I just made a new Waterson NC guy, since that appears to be the prevailing server/faction. I've only played for an hour or so, though, so I still don't really know what I'm doing.

Additionally, two nights ago as a map was ending he made a comment which ended in a racial slur. The map changed immediately after he finished speaking and he disconnected while the new map loaded. Imp and I were both there, but we didn't take any action since he disconnected before we could warn him and didn't rejoin.

Made it to 10 before I gave up.

I'm just lazy at replying But yes, X-COM is one of the best games I've ever played. There was so much depth to it. I still remember some of my soldiers - toward the end of the game, one of them had crazy high movement points, good accuracy, and could carry a heavy plasma rifle and a blaster launcher... but, she could get mind controlled really easily and blow everyone else up. So, I'd usually send someone to follow her around with a stun gun to knock her out in case the aliens took control of her. Oh man. So much fun.

I used to use a laptop for DoDS, and it worked pretty well. I had to have the quality turned down to get acceptable performance, but I got the laptop in 2005 for school, so one you get these days will work better. The one word of caution I have, is to watch out for the F$%#ing touchpad. It's really easy to accidentally have your thumb tap it, and register as a "click", meaning you shoot your gun accidentally - this can be very bad in a realism. Might be worth some time poking around to see if you can disable the touchpad before firing up the game.

Isn't Civ V free for the weekend? You could just try it out I've played a little Civ 4. I generally feel like starting a game of Civ4 is an all-day affair, which generally scares me off from starting a game (even though I'll then fire up DoDS for the rest of the day ) Can anyone who's played both compare Civ 4 and Civ 5?
