  1. fascinating...
  2. +1 You could do as much or more damage with 2 .38 revolvers, 1 9mm Glock and 1 .45 ACP with plenty of ammo. Those are also much likely to be what is used in the statistics that reflect so many gun homicides. I agree with what holland is saying about emotional response, but i think, and i may be wrong, that the numbers show most murders are pre meditated. All i know is, a few coworkers of mine were recently robbed at gunpoint. someone broke into their house, so their roommate multiple times, and held the others at gunpoint while they looted the joint. When the called the police, they arrived an hour late and for some reason (i cannot remember the specific one) they were not allowed to file a complaint. so nothing is being done about a burgarly/shooting. This is in a nice suburb of Dallas TX. All im saying is, if it was me, i would have shot those motherfuckers dead and went back to bed.
  3. My problem with your argument Peaker is that Canada, Japan, and the UK are all significantly smaller nations than the US. (Canada has about 1/10 of the US population). I love Canada, i think Canada has a great system and i would move there if i ever decided to emigrate from the United States. That said, Canada's system our government and social policy would never work in the US. From healthcare to gun control. Because we are simply too large of a nation with too many variables. As has been said, if you take away guns from citizens, the only ones who will have them will be criminals. It is my personal opinion, that these sorts of things happening in the US more than other countries ("civilized countries", this shit happens in "third world countries" all the time) is because the US has such a massive population, there is much more room for sick and deranged people to slip through the cracks and as was said, a perfect storm of specific events leads to a tragedy. You can't say these sorts of things do not happen in other large nations, because the same day of the Newtown shooting a man in China STABBED 20+ children in a school. No guns involved. Still killed 20 kids. Don't get me wrong. Im not one of these people who thinks any regulation means you're infringing on my 2nd amendment rights. I live in Texas. Im a gun enthusiast. I know first hand how lax the regulations on guns are. I find it sickeningly easy to purchase a weapon and a massive amount of ammunition. Most of my guns were purchased and brought home the same day. I don't think thats really rational. I don't think drum magazines for assault rifles or twenty round mags for my glock 17 are necessary. Even as a southern gun enthusiast, i don't support the NRA, because they take it too far. Regulation is necessary, especially when it comes to background checks, the gun show loophole, and introduction of legislation holding gun owners accountable for the use of their guns (even by another person. Some places have laws where is a child get ahold of their parents gun and shoots themselves or another child, the parent is charged with criminally negligent manslaughter). However, I completely disagree with an assault weapons ban. I don't find that to be control or regulation. Thats disarmament. As has been discussed, our founding fathers included the 2nd amendment as a check against foreign and domestic oppression. Do you think, if a revolution was necessary that the american people could sucessfully overthrow the government with pistols, shotguns, and hunting rifles? Have you seen the tech our military uses? To those who say, "why would we need to rebel against the government? the government protects us and our rights" Do not be naive. The US government has already taken away rights of its citizens. (see NDAA and PATRIOT ACT). The government is a shady beast that its citizens HAVE to keep in check. Its is the responsibility of citizens to question their government. I for one am against the government and society using this tragedy as an excuse to disarm part of the population. Maybe the government is not coeerceing US citizens by force now, (however that is arguable, see Berkley Occupy Demonstrations) by it is a slippery slope. History always repeats itself right? Historically, nations have disarmed their citizens just before the institutionalization of tyranny. Tyranny and opression doesnt come before you take away the peoples guns, that would be stupid. They could just rebel against you. No, Tyranny and oppression come after you disarm the peasants.
  4. Thats pretty badass, what is this HoI3 of which you speak?
  5. O.o jabs....
  6. its too bad you came in winter, there some awesome places to swim in Austin during the summer. I need to make my way to the NASA museum sometime, might check it out next time i go visit my bestfriend at UH. Glad you're enjoying your trip to the lonestar state!
  7. Marijuana drug testing is bullshit. If youre a consistent user, it takes a month for THC to get out of your system. Say you've got a job that doesnt require drug testing and you decide to quit and go look for a new job, you have to wait a month to get the THC out of your system (or do a detox regiment that might cost alot of money and might not even work) Lets say youre in a car accident and they wanna drug test you to see if you were high. If youve smoked pot in the last month they will find THC in your system, and deem you intoxicated. Then youre fucked.
  8. LOL well done sir dillon, congrats on your baby boy
  9. Gonna spend the day playing games and checkin out some movies! Anybody got any new/semi-new/just-plain-great movie recommendations?
  10. i have the flu, and so can't drink tonight. SO EVERYBODY BETTER GET REAL TRASHED FOR ME!
  11. Props to SSgt. Brown for this one!
  12. Just bought NS2, probably gonna get Stronghold 3 or Chivalry MW. Gotta love $10 games!
  13. I mean nothing else in Texas is really comparable to Big Bend. Its really something else, but its quite a trip out there. Might not really be worth it I mean nothing else in Texas is really comparable to Big Bend. Its really something else, but its quite a trip out there. Might not really be worth it
  14. Yeah either the Mavs or Rockets would be a good call, depending on whos in town when you are. Eithe rhome team will probably lose but they are still cool events! The only reason i ask about driving is you cant underestimate how large this state is. Its 3 hours from Dallas to Austin, about an hour from Austin to Houston, and about 4 Hours from Houstin To Dallas. And thats all in central to eastern Texas, so making it out to Big Bend is gonna be quite a journey. I just google maps'd it, and its 10 hours from Dallas to Big Bend o.O Its about the same from Houston, and its about 7 hours from Austin. If you don't want to make that drive, you could always check out San Antonio. THAT has some cool culture. Could go see (whats left of it anyway) the Alamo, big part of Texas history there, also theres the Riverwalk which is oine of the coolest places in Texas. AND if you wanted to see the home team actually WIN an NBA game, you could see the Spurs while you're down there. San An is about an hour and a half South of Austin, so its not too bad. Side note: The hill country in Austin is absolutely beautiful. Try to make a stop by Lake Travis, the way in and our is pretty awesome. Me and my girlfriend drove around smoking for like 2 hours just checking out the hill country.
  15. Dallas is a cool town, i live there, but theres honestly not THAT much for tourism. If you're into art museums you might want to check some of those out in Dallas, like the Dallas Museum of Art. Theres also the 6th Floor museum where JFK was killed, that entire square is still just as it was in 1963 (Although dont believe their bullshit about a lone gunman). Theres a Holocaust museum in the same general area if you've never been to one of those before. they bum me out but the one in dallas is pretty good. We've also got a cool aquarium and a pretty neat zoo, the dallas aquarium and the dallas zoo. If you're into nature theres also the botanical gardens, not sure how great they are this time of year but my sister got married there and it was absolutely beautiful. Other than that man i can't really think of much else thats cool around here. I live in a pretty big suburb north of dallas. i might look around and see whats going on in the city when you get over here, maybe a cool concert you could be in to? Austin is just a cool city in general, stay in a hotel downtown and just check the place out. There is ALOT of really cool stuff right around the UT campus. Be safe in Houston, its very confusing, massive highways and its pretty dangerous is some parts. Be careful if you find yourself in the area around the University of Houston campus. Btw, are you planning on flying to all of these places? or Renting a car or taking a bus or what?
  16. Yeah idk if any of this has actually changed my gameplay yet or given me a real advantage. all i know is ive now properly installed dillons config (thanks to holland) and my lerp runs at .5 now =)
  17. Cutts, you're awesome The specifics of this are a little over my head, might take me a while to figure out, but at least its all there. Thanks bud =)
  18. Dillons config, pros and cons of it to me I understand the basic concept of lerp, but how do you know what color you have? i guess i dont get the color system, red, yellow, white? just installed dillons config and am trying to decide if i want to keep it, can tell yet how much it affects gameplay. btw, for the record, i have a computer that is more than capable of running DoD:S at high levels, so maybe the config isnt changing much for me? Idk, not sure how all this jazz works.
  19. Awesome and inspiring video. Good look back on the year
  20. This. Football is a violent sport, and all players know the risks. I think trying to take the intentional injury causing out of the game is a good thing, and additional rules for player safety are a good thing in the end. But at the same time, they are turning the game into something for powder puffs. Receivers dont like to get hit, so they've added additional rules to protect them. Same for QBs. The old guard guys, such as Troy Aikman, have difficulty agreeing during broadcats that certain plays are penalties. I cant tell you how many times ive heard him say "well in todays NFL thats just not acceptable, but thats the kind of thing i expected everytime i went onto the field" (or something to that effect) Defense is my favorite part of football, and they keep throwing on new rules for "players safety" that are destroying defenders ability to play the game. Guys do'nt even know anymore what hits are legal or illegal, and they get fined for doing what they've been doing for years (Ed Reed anybody?) Some of these guys are shoe ins for the hall of fame precisely BECAUSE they play smash mouth football, and now at the ends of their careers they're getting penalized for doing what they've been doing for 10-15 years, really more than that because most of these NFL guys have been playing football for 20+ years.
  21. i have guns and no conscience, thats all i need
  22. Army navy game about to kick off! Commander-in-chiefs trophy on the line this year, first time in like twenty years. Navy is 7-4 Army is 2-9 Navy has won 11 years in a row. Haha I'm takin Navy. Who ya got? Beat Army!
  23. The day that will live in infamy. It's kinda sad that our government let it happen, but a necessary evil I suppose. Never forget their sacrifice
