DSL VS. CABLE

So heres the skinny, I'm moving this weekend and I was looking into new internet providers.

So I can get 16mb internet from comcast $52.95

OR

12 mb DSL from qwest $56.99

OR

22 MB from Comcast $62.95

OR

20 MB from qwest $69.99

i say comcast even tho they dont always have the most reliable services. it is free for them to come out and replace routers n shit like that at least where we are man and they generally give you some deals on tv and phone to and qwest sucks with those.

ive had better tech help from comcast people vs dsl sat providers. the only down side just like any other provider is if you want one channel u have to pay for 10 others you will never watch

my comcast service kind of sucked, it would just go offline every now and then for no reason. it was pretty quick when it worked but it's nothing compared to fios. dsl was kind of slow compared to cable and i had at least 20 more ping when i had it in game.

Go with cable, it's actually gonna go faster, be more consistent, and get closer to the advertised speed than DSL, because DSL runs through old ass phone lines where as cable runs through the newer, larger, and better maintained cable lines. That, and it seems like Comcast is cheaper and faster, go Comcast.

DO NOT GET QWEST!!!!!!! ok, ya they just kinda sucked balls when i lived up in washington, they constantly screwed us over with net goin down for no reason (durin a storm we would have an epic internet connection, but if it was sunny none at all) and with the bundling shit they get you to do screws you cuz sometimes they will not proccess your payment and thus cut off one of your services.

Actually, DSL uses the telephone lines to communicate, not satellite. Still though, cable is faster than DSL, mostly because it uses newer lines and a newer technology.

Actually, DSL was started on the phone lines, I've never heard of satellite DSL, that's just called satellite Internet around here. I have DSL, and have since it around 1999-2000(not the same plan/provider of course). It works fine, I get a decent ping and good download rates, but because the phone lines in my area are 70+ years old the maximum bandwidth through them is only like 7mbps, whereas the cable in my area gets 16mbps+ because the lines are newer and better designed.

Cable definitely. It's got a garunteed connection to your ISP. The connection is much faster where as DSL has to go through a satellite and experiences a small latency issue communiting to it and back down to earth via your dish. A TCP accelerator would help only slightly, but thats something they would have to use which you can't be assured of.

(I've dealt with some SATCOM stuff, so trust me ... a hard connection is ALOT better)

lol satcom did u just realize that the military has been a bunch of cheap bastards when it comes to the standard radio devices for most units. they used the prc radios up till well now and they sucked then and they suck now.
