You're right part of my beef is actually with the numbers but I have no problem with front-loaded contracts themselves (unlike Parker who doesn't like this method at all).

The problem isn't so much with exploitation (someone's doing their job and I'm fine with that). The problem is that teams with cheaper owners/owning groups probably won't want to match astronomical front-loaded contracts. They all have the money to pay, but some won't and that ruins the end product and the fans are the ones who lose out.

What's weird is that people were talking about having a max % of payout based on the annual cap hit but I haven't anything mentioned since the Kovalchuk debacle. Personally, I think that would be a totally acceptable solution.

Instead of Weber making:

14, 14, 14, 14, 12, 12, 6, 6, 6, 6, 3, 1, 1, 1 on a 7.86 hit, say the max % was like 30% extra/year then he'd be making 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 7, 7, 3, 1, 1, 1

It's still front loaded but chances are that Nashville might see that as more palatable an offer to match (not saying they would). Everyone wins. Players gets money. Fans keeps/gets player. Teams get cap relief.

NASH TO THE LAKERS.

Yeah, this would have been interesting to see back in like '05-06' when both were in their respective primes and Nash had his back-to-back MVP years. The Lakers needed someone to run the point, but I don't think it's going to make them good enough to get out of the second round of the playoffs, and definitely not good enough to beat the Thunder.

Uhhh Nash was ranked third among all PGs last year. He is faaaaaaaarrrr from done, he seems to get better with age.

Yeah, but I still don't consider the Lakers good enough getting past the Thunder. I'd love to see Steve Nash win a ring, though it would pain me to see Kobe tying with MJ in rings, and I hate the Lakers.

Howson can rest assured that he won't have the title of worst GM in pro sports (Millen being retired and all).

"The Magic will receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, rookie swingman Moe Harkless, three first-round draft picks and a 2013 second-round pick from the Nuggets (by way of Golden State). Lakers forward Pau Gasol had been in previous scenarios of the trade, but his representatives have since been assured he's no longer in the deal..."

Well, at least Orlando fans can see more of Sharapova near courtside.

So now LA has Howard, Gasol, Kobe and Nash + random guy in 3-spot. Sigh. I hate LA.
