Crossing the border between the US and Canada (to visit family), I had only once had a border guard check the contents of my vehicle and with that, didn't check any containers, compartments, or anything. Perhaps it was "the luck of the draw", though it seems to be a more common thing.

Ya I saw this video on Reddit. I guess he's a Baptist minister that likes to mess with border security. Apparently one time he refused a car search, had his windows broken with hammers, then got tazed in the face.

There is a large part of me that thinks that this guy is just an attention seeking douche that deserves a sever beat down from the police, but another part of me thinks that the police would be more aggressive with him if what they were doing was strictly legal.

I don't know enough about the law to say for sure what types of car checkpoints are legal and what the police are actually allowed to ask for.
