Well that sounds like a shitty, waste of time thats going to fuck allot of things up and not make anything any better other than load times witch are not a problem for anyone with a not shit pc.

Read it. Looks like those of us that use custom skins, sounds, HUDs, etc. will have some trouble.

I'm not sure what will happen to the server mods that are currently installed.

Judging by what they said it seems all I will have to do is move my skins into a different folder. Which isn't really an inconvenience. However, let us hope that the server mods will still work.

Make sure that you back up your dod folder before you let the new update run. The update will erase your old dod folder.

There is a temporary fix until you get your custom files converted.

1. Locate your new "custom" folder.

--C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod

2. Create a new folder inside of the "custom" folder and name it something like: mycustomfiles

3. Move your old files over to that folder. (cfg, materials, models, particles, resource, scripts, sound)

4. You can move your custom config over using the same steps as above, but only your custom config should be in the cfg folder. (Do not move settings, user, valve.rc, etc.)

5. Move your maps and .res files to the new maps folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\maps). Move the .txt files from the old dod\resource\overviews to the new folders. Move the .vmt and.vtf files from the old dod\materials\overviews to the new folders.

Can someone help me with getting my console to work? i have a custom background image that i was using beforehand but for the life of me I can't get it to work now.

Someone explaining how the fuck the new system for custom stuff works would also help.

Seriously they wasted 10 mins of my time downloading and installing that for nothing.... No noticeable changes to the game, it's performance or operation that I can see.

They could have at least thrown in a new class option or a few new maps if all they were going to do is make us download and install nothing that takes up more HDD space.....

Gather these items: 1 liter of fresh blood. 1 oz of thyme. A 3/4 inch iron pipe. A 8 qt pot with lid . Your computer.

Next, pour the blood in the pot while sprinkling in the thyme.

Put the lid on the pot, and stick the pipe through the lid.

Put the pot on a fire and bring to a boil.

As it is coming to a boil, chant "Steam Powered" over and over.

When the blood boils it will release steam, hold your computer over the pipe and let the steam flow over it.

Start chanting "Steam Pipe Steam Pipe" until all the blood boils away.

When the blood boils away, chant "OH MIGHTY GABE HEAR YOUR SERVANTS PLEA! PLEASE FIX MY CUSTOM SKINS FOR DODS!"

A spirit of Gabe Newell will appear and fix all your problems.

Also for those who are wondering what the steam pipe update did i can explain very breifly.

Basically Steampipe is Steam's way of making users with Linux based OSs compatibile with other OS user of the Mac and Windows Genre.

The games were already Linux ready but at the time Linux users could only play with other Linux users. So basically this update has made it so that Linux users can now play with other OS users. Increases the playable options for Linux based users on steam.

To get your console background, you'll need to put the .vtf file into DoD>Custom>GriswoldsCustom (or whatever you want to name it)>Materials>Console

At least that's where insane's HUD mod installed it.
