Resolved - Ping issues in the private server

So I experience a higher ping in the private server lately than what I'm used to, and higher than the other players

from my part of the world. I am usually around 130-140 in the private (110-130 in the pub), and now I'm always

around 240 or higher in the private. I am wondering why this is happening in the private only (and only me, not other

players in my region) and for no apparent reason after I moved into a new apartment (my internet speed is not a

problem in the public server). Any thoughts?

Well, the Public server is hosted in New Jersey and the Private server is hosted in St Louis... That may be the cause for your ping difference between the servers.

Can you post the results of running these commands in console?

That should show where the problem is.

run cmd (windows+r then cmd, then enter)

copy the command

right click in the cmd window and choose paste

hit enter

wait around a minute for the command to complete

right click and choose mark

highlight the results of the command

right click again (it will deselect the text, it is now copied)

paste results into forum, repeat for second command

Yes, I was affraid that could be the case. Does that mean that there is nothing I can do about it?

Does it matter what internet speed I have at all?

The trace really doesn't suggest you should be getting a 240 ping. Also, are you talking about ping (the number in console when you run status) or latency (the number in the scoreboard)? In either case, does anyone know if there are any differences in the netcode config of the two servers? Perhaps playing with rates will have some impact. I'm grasping at straws.

The different server location shouldn't be doubling your latency or ping. It looks to me either like a screwy config that'shaving different effects on the two servers, or like some sort of traffic shaping / Quality of Service that's misidentifying dods packets as low priority, which could explain the low latency traceroute and high latency game play.

I'm running Dillons config and i have been fiddling around with the video settings as well. Could that have anything to do with it?

Should I maybe try without the config, or just the config without doing anything with the settings afterwords?

Also, when your ping in the scoreboard is 240, what does it show your ping at in a status console or in net_graph? Based on the traceroute i would expect 150, but based on the scoreboard at 240 i would expect about 200-220.

When I'm in the private by my self my ping on the scoreboard is 150 and net_graph is 161.

But this is "normal", the more people in the server (private as well as pub) the higher ping I get..

I will check again when the private is more populated.

So with 12 players in the private my ping shoots up to 180-190 in scoreboard, and about 210 in net_graph

Well I have almost the same problem and I live in Denmark. Sometimes when I play on the public server I have a ping around 100 on a good day. The other day it was about 170 on the public, so I find it kind of weird that from one day to another my ping went from 100 to 170. Also on the private server I have issues, the other day it was way over 200 and the other day it was lover than 200. So it seems like I have some of the same problems like Branem. I really hope to find a solution to this issue.

I get a steady ping of about 120 mainly because of where you are (I live in U.K) and as the lieutenant colonel pointed out the privae server is in a different location , changing this to resolved , if anymore problems message me or repost on this
