What do you mean by that?

So Saturday night, after we won our realism, a friend and I go downtown to have some drinks and kinda celebrate. We met a younger guy there and start having a conversation about what we do for a living, fun, etc. As we are standing there, this woman comes along and the younger guy starts talking to her and she looks at him and says "you look a little ESL." Now I'm not too "hip" on all the new slang and acronyms so I asked her "What do you mean by that?". "Oh, English as a second language.", she says and goes on about her business. Would this be considered a degrading remark or what? I would assume so but we just laughed it off. I'm curious to find out your opinions and also post any other acronyms or slang terms that you are aware of or have just heard. This is meant to be fun and educational and in no way start a bad topic :)

Just for the record, this is how I felt the next day:

I have no idea what that means in terms of an insult or not lol

But slang is different depending on where you live or go. By my school in CT we say something is "slow" meaning we aren't gonna do it or we aren't going.

Example:

"Do you want to go to the store?"

"It's slow for that"

I'm in CT too we say a lot of weird shit. Like MAD is our version of Wicked which is New Englands slang for cool/good. I have heard ESL before and as someone who's first language isn't English it can kind of be insulting but then again I don't get easily offended over dumb stuff.
