Problem with "motd" message

I noticed today (06/10) that out welcome or "motd" message has reverted to the original generic "welcome to Day of Defeat" message. Therefore there are no rules listed. This is in regards to the public server.

Also, sometimes if you come in from another server, their MOTD message appears briefly (a few seconds) before reverting to the default.

I think that is more with client cache than is with the server configuration. I have seen that same scenario when I connect to other servers sometimes.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to design a really cool MOTD with information and some server stats!

It seems the MOTD is not showing up at all now. I had a slight problem with a player who used a derogatory term and asked him to keep it respectful. its one of our rules on this server and he pointed out that there wasn't any rules listed. I double checked typing MOTD in the chat and nothing was there at all. i even logged off the pub server and back on and there was nothing there at all, it was just a blank slate. this was around 8am or so.

Thanks for the heads up. The CS are working to correct it. Just an FYI, the MOTD has not been working at all for several months. If you do ever see anything it it is usually cached from another server momentarily.

Until we resolve the issue, don't direct people to the "listed rules". Inform the person of the rule they are breaking and have it serve as a warning. We don't have any obscure rules in our server, so it shouldn't pose any issue. If that individual continues or ignored your warning, then a kick or ban may be given.
