Brief Description of Issue: this keeps happening alot, 1st thought was due tpo my cfg was read only.. un did that and its doing it again.. any one else having this issue or know WTH is going on?

Did you see if your windows firewall turned on again?

its not on, the windows firewall, redid all the stuff again and it happened again this morning. valve needs to get there shet fixed.

Will do some more research on this matter, but I still think it is either your firewall or your modem/router. Might need to go in and set that up also for DoD's.

here is a way to make sure no third party is interfering and giving you this error. disable any third party software before you start steam. you can either do it in msconfig or click them on the bottom right of the screen. See if any of those are giving you the error. Steam really needs to fix this. to many people are getting the error. It is caused from their end.

seems that Avast is not to friendly with VAC secured servers. We need to make sure that not only steam but DOD's is enabled in the firewall. I will be on tomorrow and will walk you through it.

well its still doing it, it ain't avast, had them come in and check every thing for permissions, hell even played (gasp) with out avast running and it still happened. its all on vac side. im seriously getting annoyed with this crap.

we need to pick a date and time we can get together on vent. I want to go through your msconfig line by line. make sure no third party software is conflicting with it. let me know when it is convenient for you.

I'm gonna go ahead and close this topic for the time being due to over a month's inactivity.

OK THEN, what i have found.. is ANY iobit program running in the background, cuases these situations.. this includes complete care.. malware scanner and iobit defrag.. took me ages of shutting programs down but just cuz you click the programs to exit.. dont always work.. some of iobits stuff still has a process running even if, so have to A) go to the process screen and end process.. or set em to not load at all less you start them, keep in mind, once you do this if you go back in game, you have to kill the process again. any ways this si what i have found, my avast is still running on highest setting and its not giving me the blokcing vac thing.. course by getting this out lol it prob will make it happen, sorry for so long to reply and find this crap out, but rl been a bugger, and well i forget alot fo things now day's.. any case.. hope this helps any one in the future.
