BREAKING! Iranian ships intercept a US destroyer

The thing is, you're at the doorstep of a country which has one of the largest army in the world, allied and doing joint operations with Russia (and potentially China). Risking an escalation to show your balls isn't the wisest of things. I believe restraint in such cases are is the sign of a good commander.

Whoever said I was a good naval Commander?  Iran keeps messing with ships in international waters.  They like to think they can control the Strait.  I would show them otherwise.

Don't need to be 300 yds to identify a ship. They would have known exactly what it was well before it came over the horizon into visual range.

Can equate this to sabre rattling. Or they just wanted to say hi. Russia does the same thing regularly with fighter jets when sailing through in the Baltic or the Arctic.
