Question

Name: I. Keith

Rank: TSgt.

Type of issue:   software most likely, maybe hardware. (Software, Hardware, Steam, Not sure)

Brief Description of Issue:

PC doesn't fully shut down, but rather goes into a sort of sleep mode, and the only to to shut down completely is to turn off the power supply.

In this "sleep mode" -the fans rev up to max.

-the "cpu failure" light on the mobo lights up.

-the power button and reset button don't do anything.

Attempted fixes:   reinstalled win10, disable fast startup, and updated all the drivers i can think of

Any ideas/thoughts/prayers are very welcome.

Kindest Regards,

    I. Keith

Can you utilize a full shutdown via command prompt (command is "shutdown /s /f /t 02" [/t02 makes it start the command after 2 seconds of being entered, /f stops it warning about applications being open, /s indicates full shutdown]) to see if it is something with how your HDD and Windows are sending the command to the firmware?

shutdown /s /f /t 02    had the same result, but for fun i pressed the power button on the case and my pc did boot up.  Not sure what may have changed that to work.

ran sfc /scannow  and got " Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

edit: restarted pc after and no change.
