No ventrilo Sound

R. Baker 1st MRB

Question

Yesterday when I was on vent it was all fine. Today I come on here and when I do anything on there no sound comes up on my headset or any other headset I have tried. I think people can hear me because when I say "can you speak if you can hear" me the sound icon flashes but I still can't hear anything. PLEASE HELP!

Oh and also when I go onto vent a error message now comes up and says: VoiceCommMixerStart: Invalid voice mux selection. (-1).

Alright, not sure if you have these options in Vista, but you can check:

Go to your control panel.

Go to sound (manage audio devices)

Right click the device you are using for DoDs/vent/etc.

Go to Properties.

In the Advanced tab there should be a setting called Exclusive Mode

Uncheck the box that says "Allow Applications to take exclusive control of this device."

Again, I know this works for Win7, not sure about vista...

Also, are you running vent as administrator?

Are you still getting the same error message?

Or is there just no sound.

After browsing the ventrilo forums, it looks like the "VoiceCommMixerStart: Invalid voice mux selection. (-1)" error can be fixed by changing the Hardware Input Mixer to either none or the current input/output device

I belive i know whats going on.

Basically i dont know if u did or it was a default switch in the setting but the Options in your vent are messed up.

First thing we will try..

- Setup > Voice"Tab"

- In this Screen we are going to Check BOTH "Use Direct Sound Boxes"

- Secondly Go to the "Input" drop down menu under " Hardware Input Mixer" and Click Mixer

MIXER- Mic

MUX - Mast Vol

Line - Master Vol

Basically we want to make sure that your Vent Settings are correct.

Go ahead and try that and get back to me and we will go from here.

I know my Tech notes are awesome. ITs what i do for a living lol. Chat Support.
