yea, i gear up for realism... thats dedication haha

jk, gettin ready for a 2am flak run... you might notice Sgt chevrons... theyre NOT mine, (i only PT with this flak, for all other purposes i have a personal plate carrier) when i was issued it, they were already on there... was too lazy to take em off since i only wear to pt in.

Do the marines actually call them flak vests? I know in the army we call them IBA but ours run with plates in the front and back. You guys run similar things or just the kevlar vests?

flak jackets yea... they do have plates that go in the front back, and some vests have side ones. thats all i run in my plate carrier, no soft armor

yeah had one of those while i was in Kosovo in 99'. The ones we had was shit heavy so we decided not to wear it.. had any officer seen us we would got our asses kicked :P

yeah my IBA had a plate in the front, back and one on each side. Without any ammo it was probably only 35lbs, but will pouches of ammo it was probably pushing 70lbs of weight not including weapons or anything else. It just sucks. I know the marines deployed have similar get-ups to what I had overseas.

      MARINE CORPS ENLISTMENT OFFICE Camp Pendleton, CA   RECRUITMENT LETTER     Hello F. Flobbs   Thank you for taking interest in joining the 1st Marine Raider Battalion. There are a few things you should know before I give you a date for Basic Combat Training (BCT). Firstly, you are restricted to the weapon class of Rifleman for the duration of your time as a Recruit.
