As some of you may know I am a qualified Social Studies teacher in the state of Ohio. My degree and license allows me to teach grades 7-12. I currently haven't found a job so I am subbing to get some experience. I have been subbing the entire year and have a few interesting stories but today's was one of the most stressful stories I have had yet.

I subbed in a carpentry class where I have 11th graders for 3 hours in the morning and 12th for 3 hours in the afternoon. This afternoon I had some very animated kids well adults kind of 18 and 19 yr old guys. One of them is waiting to graduate and is going to join the Army when he gets out of High School. At the beginning of the class he made and ate an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). While eating it he said something about how they could make a bomb out of it with the chemical reaction in the meal. I said thats interesting lets not do that in school. About 25 minutes before they are to leave I hear an explosion. The jerks made the bomb and blew it up on the bathroom that was attached to the room. I then had to talk to the principal at the end of the day and will most likely have to make reports and explanations on what happened... and these kids could face criminal charges.

What are your comments on this situation? And please save the That what you get when you become a teacher bit. I'm looking for more of would even fathom to do something like this. Or have you done something like this and what happened.

Currently in 11th grade, and I've never done anything like that before. Perhaps it's just the kids' stupidity getting the better of them. Kids at my school prefer to intentionally make our teachers' lives harder on purpose by being an ass. Hope things get less stressful for you and I <3 history.

In 9th grade I got suspended for making ninja stars out of sheet metal. I would throw them into the soft wood of a cabinet. Of course, the teacher was really really bad. He was never around and just sat in his office. One day he decided to crack down on us for some reason and I got suspended for having a deadly weapon and destruction of school property.

made a few works bombs and exploded them in the toilet a couple times at school bahah... also burned a hole in a desk.. not very much but it was basically the equivalent of a fuse, just in a concentrated spot.. just some tin, corn starch and I forget the active chemical used but it was in stump remover.. light it up and its basically like those stupid little fireworks you get at the store for Fourth of July that make pretty colors and are done with in about 10 seconds... bahhaha.. Chemicals are fun.. ^_^

In the 10th grade back in Chicago i Basically made a Chlorine bomb. a HUGE chlorine bomb. Only did this to make a point...

was fucking awesome.

Really wish there was something that would be benificial I could add. Maybe talking with teachers with more experience might help. How about moving to FL. They are always looking for teachers here where I live.

i got suspended for almost a week for making a ghetto beartrap but it didn't even work that good and no one got hurt but then they took whatever that class was called away since most people made shivs and shanks T_T

I have thought about it, but I have heard that schools are pretty rough down there and part of the reason why they are always looking for teachers. That and a rather large portion of my family lives here in Ohio... I'm a touch scared to move too far away, though I may have to, to get a job.

See thats the kind of thing I can see someone being suspended for, and its understandable. Just write up the report, tell them what happened, and you should be in the clear.

Now the shit I can't stand is the kids who get expelled for bringing a GI Joe to school with his gun, or get suspended for playing Cops and Robbers. That shit is retarded.

Sidenote: You can make an explosive out of Drano and Aluminum foil.

Step 1: Get a soda bottle with a cap

Step 2: Ball up the aluminum foil and put it in the bottle.

Step 3: Add Drano to the bottle (I am unsure on the exact portions of each ingredient, play around with it :-P)

Step 4: add cap, shake and THROW!

Also, you can make napalm out of Styrofoam and gasoline. Just break chunks of styrofoam up into a cup of gas, and wait a while ;).
