Alot of people do disagree with her policies , at least you're mature about it giraffe , some of the stuff I'm reading on facebook is absolutely disgusting , people saying they're glad she's dead and that they're going to have a party , makes me feel sick when I read things like that written by ignorant twats .

Yeah... it is astonishing how much hate there is out there.

People who weren't even alive when she was in power somehow manage to think their irrational hatred of her is relevant!

Either way, love her or loathe her, there is no denying she was one of the greatest leaders the UK has had.

Looking back, its quite interesting to note the reason she lost power. Elements within her own party removed her, mainly on

the basis that she had said "No! No! No!" to the European single currency, when the other 11 major European leaders were

all in favor of it. Turns out, she was totally right all along!

She did give a lot of people a lot of reasons to dislike her. She pissed off essentially everyone in the north over the miner's strikes, everyone in Europe and Ireland over the IRA. She supported the brutal dictatorship of Pinochet long after he was deposed and convicted of crimes against humanity. She called the ANC a terrorist organization and refused to impose sanctions on South Africa long after the rest of the west had and she even took away free milk from kids in state sponsored schools! So, not trying to justify dancing on graves, but plenty of people have plenty of grievances.

Sorry girraffe disagrre with ya there the miners strike had to be dealt with harshly to break the power the unions had over the country at the time , and she called the ANC a terrorist organization because they threatened to kill british citzens unless they received british backing , and good she banned milk , I hate milk , pinochet I do disagree with her on that but you can blame the americans for that one , all In all A great leader In a tough time.

It's the worker's right to strike for better conditions. Without unions and strikes we would still be in the 1800s with kids working in clothing mills and 16 hours days. Here in Quebec, the reign of our own Thatcher, Duplessis, who repressed the unions, is widely known as "The great darkness". While unions can get out of hand, it's better than when bosses get out of hand. I'll never agree with Thatcher's policies, but I do respect her for her drive and for being able to be both Britain's first female PM and longest serving.
