Valve, why no DoD 3?!

The emergence of three games (Days of War, Day of Infamy and Battalion 1944) which claim to  to be spiritual successors to DOD:S in the past year or so makes me wonder why Valve have forsaken the DoD franchise. Out of the big three (Team Fortress, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat) DoD has had the least game releases and least post-release attention by Valve. Obviously the population of players in 1.3 and Source is very low compared to other Valve games but surely with so much attention from other developers it must be obvious there is money to be made here. I think a new DoD game based on CS:GO's features would be a great game. Just the inclusion of realism and matchmaking for built-in 12 mans would be enough to peek interest. At best those three games claiming influence from DoD might look the same and share similarities, but I doubt they will feel the same especially for the two games built on Unreal 4. The DOI mod may be Source engine but it still doesn't feel like DoD's pace at all. At worst these games may only share the WW2 theme and ripped off maps.

I hope valve doesn't make a 3 on DoD . look at cs go it's full of micro transactions, barely any new weapons or change just reskins, still a community plagued by trolls and hackers. One of these new games teams is going to hit it big because these 3 games are from people who love the WW2 genre of gaming and actually out care into making the game. I mean watching doi last night was like watching an updated dods and by the time the stream was over I was dieing to blow the 20 bucks to get it.

CS:GO isn't full of microtransactions per se. The skins don't change the guns, just how they look. The whole concept of the skins is alien to me and I think it is hilarious that people pay good money for pixels on a screen. They don't change the game in the way items do in TF2 or other pay-to-win games though so it doesn't bother me or, for the most part, other CS veterans. There are a lot of new weapons in CS:GO! Trolls and hackers are a fact of life in any game, but I agree that CS:GO's matchmaking system gives these dickheads more opportunities to ruin the game for everyone else. As good a game as DOI may be I just don't see how it, or any of these other spiritual successors, is going to feel like DoD or have the same pacing. In my opinion DOI (the Insurgency mod) is more like Red Orchestra in many respects than DoD.

CS GO has very few new weapons most of which are garbage. CS has a better community and more of a money maker for valve because of the competitive aspect of it and pro gaming communit even CAL died on DoD and look at source valve removed a bunch of weapons from the original that I quite frankly liked and what did we get for all those weapons getting taken away a punch, a machine pistol and rifle grenades. They barely did anything for source and took away my beloved grease gun. I'm glad teams who actually care about the genre took it upon themselves to make unofficial sequels because it's going to make all 3 of the games so much better.

I just bought Day of Infamy and will try it out when I get home. I'll let you know how it plays tonight. I don't really care if they rip off DoD, if its fun its fun!!! And for only $18.99 (I bought the insurgency pack for $24.99) it sounds like a good deal. 20 bucks for hours and hours of playing is a good deal. You wouldn't believe how much I've spent on my world of tanks...

Day of infamy is pretty much just a ww2 shooter with the insurgency engine, pretty much the same as darkest hour and in no way feels like dod. I think its (days of war?) that will be the closest to a dod feel, and i really hope that one works out for people who like to rifle.

csgo was a revival, it was to update to the game and make it more competitive. not to have a new counter strike, thats how they have always kinda operated. they have added new guns now as well as a new map lineup. but i do agree the skins and some of those prices are rediculous, like ...500 $ knives wtf.  hey shanks hows that game ? i havent found a updated esq ww1/ww2 game as fun as DoD/DoDS yet.

There is none as of yet. Days of War (was supposed to be DoDs replacement) isn't polished enough yet. The 1st MRB has a public server on there as well.
